Ordering NHS Repeat Prescriptions Online

You can now oder order you NHS repeat prescriptions online in a number of ways. You can log in to the NHS App and order; you can order via System Online via the Steyning Medical Practice website; or you can create an online account with your local pharmacy.

You can also use local pharmacy Apps. For example Paydens and Upper Beeding Pharmacy have Apps that you can download and you can then set up the ordering of your repeat prescriptions. The Pharmacy will then undertake the ordering and keep you informed as to when your prescription is ready for collection. You can also get online re-order reminders from the Pharmacies or you can set up regular schedules of re-ordering.

Unfortunately 176 patients did not attend their appointment in July ( 30 of these were GP appointments). Please cancel appointments, so that they can be offered to other patients.

Update from Steyning Medical Practice on the Closure of the Upper Beeding Branch Surgery 2025

We can now confirm that our proposal to permanently close our Upper Beeding branch surgery site was approved by NHS Sussex’s Primary Care Commissioning Group at their meeting on 27 May. The decision was based on the practice fulfilling a number of mitigating actions to uphold patient access and meet the needs of those most affected by the closure. We are now in a position to announce that we have fulfilled the key actions and can formally announce the closure to our patients and local people. All our services will be provided at our main site, Steyning Health Centre with immediate effect.

We understand that this decision may cause you some concern, and we want to reassure you that it has been made with careful consideration, and in the interest of maintaining clinical safety and high-quality care for all our patients.

Steyning Health Centre is a well-equipped, modern facility. Having provided all our services at this location for some months now, we know that it has been working well for patients and staff. We are confident this means patients will have continued access to our services and staff, and it will allow us to provide safer and more equitable care to our patients.

Over the past few months, we have engaged extensively with the local community about the proposal to permanently close the Upper Beeding branch surgery site. This included our patients, the practice’s Patient Participation Group (PPG), parish councillors and HealthWatch West Sussex. Actions during this time included a public meeting and a survey, which was produced in collaboration with HealthWatch West Sussex, which independently analysed the responses received. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts on this matter, every piece of feedback was read and carefully considered.

We understand that there are some concerns from people in and around the Upper Beeding area about access and travel to Steyning Health Centre, appointment availability, and prescription collection services. If you have any ongoing concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling Health Watch or contacting the practice directly.

PharmacyFirst

On 31^st January 2024, The PharmacyFirst Service was launched. This is a service in which patients can do down to their local participating pharmacy for help with seven minor conditions which would previously have required a GP appointment. The seven minor conditions are sinusitis in adults and children over 12, sore throat for children and adults over 5 years, ear ache (acute otitis media) for children aged 1-17 years old, infected insect bite for children and adults over 1 year, impetigo for children and adults aged 1 year and over, shingles for adults over 18 years and uncomplicated urinary tract infections in woman aged 16 to 64 years.

The service is offered locally by: Ashington Pharmacy, Upper Beeding Pharmacy, Henfield Pharmacy, Storrington Pharmacy, Steyning Paydens Pharmacy and Bakhai Pharmacy.

Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding is very fortunate to have a First Responders scheme whereby someone who has a suspected heart attack can be helped by quick and potentially life saving interventions.
