EVENTS
The committee aims to promote health awareness, and provide information by holding events for professionals and patients to engage with one another.
The most recent Health awareness talk was on Falls Prevention
The Worthing Falls Prevention team came to The Steyning Centre on 19th May from 2-4 to provide advice on preventing falls both at home and when out and about. The information covered how to fall as safely as possible and how best to get up if you have had a fall. Please click this article for further information.
Thanks to Steyning Parish Council for providing us with the main hall without charge.
The previous Health Focus event was held at the Steyning Medical Centre 19th March at 7.00PM on Cholesterol. Please click this article for further information. The most important message was that lowering cholesterol (low density lipids) was the most effective intervention to prevent heart disease. The lower the LDL levels the better.
Presented by Dr Kate Shipman, Consultant Chemical Pathologist at St Richards Hospital. Dr Shipman will talk about what Cholesterol is, why reducing it is important, how to manage it when it is high, including the use of statins, and the cardiovascular risk because of high cholesterol.
